1. Introduction
Keratoconus is a progressive, non-inflammatory corneal disorder characterized by cone-like protrusion of the cornea, irregular stromal thinning, and significant visual loss. While the etiology of keratoconus remains unclear, it is known to be associated with certain systemic conditions such as Down syndrome, Leber congenital amaurosis, and mitral valve prolapse [1]. Keratoconus typically manifests in the second to third decade of life and usually affects both eyes. It is clinically classified as mild, moderate, or severe, with progressive stages presenting with symptoms such as blurred or distorted vision and increased corneal steepening [2].
